Renovations mean clearing rooms, protecting furniture and keeping your belongings safe while the building work takes place. Rather than loading everything into a van and driving it to a facility, we bring a secure steel unit to your house and build it where it is going to be used.
The unit arrives flat-packed and is assembled by hand, so it can go on a driveway, in a garden or in other places with restricted access, with no cranes or heavy machinery. Planning permission is not usually needed for a temporary structure like this, and there are no permanent fixings. When the work is finished we dismantle the unit and take it away, leaving nothing behind.
Planning storage around your project
Most renovation projects take longer than expected, so our hire runs weekly with no fixed end date. Whether the job lasts four weeks or six months, you pay for the time you use. We can deliver ahead of your start date so you can clear rooms properly before the trades arrive, then collect once everything is back in place.
For phased work that moves from room to room, the unit stays on site throughout, acting as overflow space at every stage without repeated trips to an off-site facility.
Dust and debris get everywhere, including rooms that are not being worked on. Furniture, soft furnishings and electronics locked in a weatherproof steel unit outside are protected from dust, moisture and theft for the whole project.

Which size for a renovation?
A kitchen refit needs less room than a whole-house refurbishment. These three cover most projects, and the storage calculator will tell you exactly.
Kitchen or bathroom
The smallest unit, 40 sq ft, is usually enough for a standard kitchen clear-out: appliances, boxed contents and small furniture.

Doubles the space. Ideal for the furniture from a couple of rooms, including larger items, during an extension or a phased refit.

Delivered, assembled, collected
Two people, a van and a set of steel panels. The unit goes up on your drive before the builders arrive and comes down when the last room is finished.

The panels arrive flat-packed on our Luton van, so tight streets, side passages and back gardens are not a problem.

Questions about storage during renovations
How long can I hire a storage unit for during a renovation?
Hire is weekly, billed every four weeks, with a minimum of four weeks and no fixed end date. If the project runs over, the unit simply stays. Give us seven working days' notice when you are ready for collection.
What size do I need for a kitchen renovation?
For a standard kitchen clear-out the 2 × 2 m unit (40 sq ft) is usually enough. For a larger kitchen, or where adjacent rooms also need clearing, the 2 × 6 m unit (120 sq ft) gives more capacity. We are happy to advise on your project, or you can use the storage calculator.
Do I need planning permission for a temporary storage unit?
In most cases, no. Our units are temporary, non-fixed structures and are removed when no longer needed. If you are in a listed building or a conservation area, check with your local council first.
Can the unit be placed on a driveway or in a garden?
Yes. Units are assembled by hand on site without cranes or heavy machinery, so most driveways, gardens and restricted-access spots are fine. We need a firm, reasonably level surface and 2,150 mm of height clearance on the route in.
Will my furniture be protected from damp?
The units are weatherproof steel and protect contents from normal outdoor conditions. For moisture-sensitive items such as sofas, mattresses and fabrics we recommend adding Absorpoles, which manage natural humidity changes without power. One is advised per 2 × 2 m of unit.
Do you move the furniture for us?
No. We deliver and assemble the unit; you load it at your own pace and keep the keys. We do not transport or handle belongings.
